Early PARTAGE signups requested!

(16.4.2019 )

Dear volunteers

Samedi du Partage

As you may know, twice a year in Geneva over 70 supermarkets participate in a very special event called Samedi du Partage during which over 350 tonnes of food is collected to feed the hungry of the community. Serve the City normally provides about 50 volunteers across the Friday afternoon and the Saturday to serve in five different stores. This year’s first collection is happening on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 May.

We would like to gauge the interest of STC volunteers for this project in late May, so if there is a good chance you might help out on one of the two days, please sign up now. If we reach 50 volunteers quickly, we will then offer to help in more stores. Each store will disappear from the sign-up list as it fills up, but you can always sign up for the “Use me where needed” option. When signing up for a Saturday shift, please indicate your time preference (8am-12pm, 12-3pm, or 3-6pm).

This year we will be participating on Friday 24 May at Migros Meyrin (6 people, from 3-7.30pm) and

on Saturday 25 May at Aldi Chêne-Bourg (2 per shift), Aldi Petit-Lancy (4), Coop Grand-Saconnex (2) and Migros Meyrin (8).

The Salvation Army has many projects each year to help the marginalized of the city. Now is a chance to step up and participate in a new special project.

On Easter Sunday , 21 April :

From 11h until 15h we will offer brunch to all those who wish to: “Place des Grottes”. On site there will be tables, benches for people to sit down to eat. There will be music groups, children’s entertainment and a buffet that volunteers will offer to people. For food we thought, cold pasta salad or cold rice, fruit, cakes, cold cuts, etc. Ideally, if it would be convenient for you to bring what is possible around 11am. Also, people who come can also participate in brunch and come with their family and children. Basically it’s a great moment of conviviality with all the people who want it.

Do sign up on the STC website and let us know what you would like to bring. English speakers are welcome, but a little French will also be helpful.

ENSEMBLE MULTIPLIONS L’ESPOIR!!!

A Saturday Evening Cleanup project. Wednesday 13 Feb.

For several years we have been working with the volunteer ESCA CancerSupport, helping them get attention and financial support thru their Paddle for Cancer Event.  Now they are putting on a dance in the Chateau de Coppet , Wednesday 13 February.   Now of course all are welcome to attend the dance but they could use a couple of strong men/women to help clean up after the dance.(about midnight). So the request is; if you are an insomniac, just crazy to help any time any place, just love what ESCA is doing, or you are coming to the dance and don’t mind staying on.    THIS IS FOR YOU.  Sign up on STC website..
