Serve The City Geneva

We are urgently looking for volunteers

Dear Volunteers,

This year is a particularly difficult year for many of Geneva’ s most vulnerable people. We have several projects to help the homeless and hurting in our community. 1.The preparing of 5,000 food packages a week and 2. The sorting of the Samdi du Partage collected food. (Signup for all events on our website indicating date preferences.) www.ServeTheCityGeneva.ch

We are urgently looking for volunteers to prepare sandwiches from home.and deliver them to a homeless shelter in the city. The project will run Monday to Friday until 15th January. This is a very last minute request due to the urgent need that has arisen. The goal is to make 70 sandwiches on a given day and you will be refunded 70 CHF for expenses. For more information on making and distributing the sandwiches please contact:Simon – by signing up on the STC website Any commitment would be greatly welcomed. I wish you a wonderful holiday season.

Kind Regards,

The Serve The City team

We have some fantastic volunteers jumping in over the holidays to provide sandwiches to the homeless of Geneva. But we could use a few more if you can help out.  As noted, we are looking for 70 sandwiches a week for 3 weeks, you pick the day..But if you can only do one day.. that would be fantastic too.. The homeless more than ever can use your support. Please signup and list your availability..
Just  wanted to keep you updated :JdM will be closed on December 25 and December 28.JdM will also be closed on January 1 and January 4

The Holiday challenge…

Our take -away meal program has died or at least is on a pause until next year at best. We would like to attempt to bring back to life our sandwich program. Here is the idea.. volunteers will make a three week commitment to make 70 sandwiches a week for 3 weeks. and delivers them by 9:30 to Mt.Brilliant Soup kitchen behind the main train station. STC will contribute with 70 chf a day to help with expenses at the end of the 3 day period. Do sign up as soon as you are ready our website lists your day/s of preference. We don’t know yet about Christmas or New Years Day. Happy Christmas to all and stay safe ..dropping off sandwiches curbside.

December newsletter

Dear volunteers,

A few new projects to consider coming up to a very unique Christmas..

A few things Serve the City is trying to support, coming up to the holidays..

Our meal program, which has managed to do about 10,600 meals since March is on hold. We have lost our use of a kitchen to make the meal.

As soon as we get access to new facilities, we will be back in business but you can sign up for standby when we go live again.

Our filling of food bags is now open to volunteers a and we need 20 volunteers each Thursday and Friday mornings, until school holidays then other dates are listed.. A great opportunity for Service Hours or CAS credit as we are putting together 5,000 bags of needed food each week. Don’t forget to include the days you are able to volunteer.

The Samedi du Partage food collection was successful and needs help in January to sort all the collected food.. It’s done in a large PalExpo warehouse Hall 7 for Covid protection and can take up to 10 persons each day.. STC has 11,13 and 15 January for sorting collected good.

We have a team making Christmas boxes for the Homeless of Geneva. Carrefour Rue will be collecting wrapped gift boxes 15th-18th December.

We will drop them off at their offices.. ….. Details below

The Salvation Army has some holiday projects which could use some help. So we will be posting them on our web site as they become available.
