Serve The City Geneva

December newsletter

Dear volunteers,

A few new projects to consider coming up to a very unique Christmas..

A few things Serve the City is trying to support, coming up to the holidays..

Our meal program, which has managed to do about 10,600 meals since March is on hold. We have lost our use of a kitchen to make the meal.

As soon as we get access to new facilities, we will be back in business but you can sign up for standby when we go live again.

Our filling of food bags is now open to volunteers a and we need 20 volunteers each Thursday and Friday mornings, until school holidays then other dates are listed.. A great opportunity for Service Hours or CAS credit as we are putting together 5,000 bags of needed food each week. Don’t forget to include the days you are able to volunteer.

The Samedi du Partage food collection was successful and needs help in January to sort all the collected food.. It’s done in a large PalExpo warehouse Hall 7 for Covid protection and can take up to 10 persons each day.. STC has 11,13 and 15 January for sorting collected good.

We have a team making Christmas boxes for the Homeless of Geneva. Carrefour Rue will be collecting wrapped gift boxes 15th-18th December.

We will drop them off at their offices.. ….. Details below

The Salvation Army has some holiday projects which could use some help. So we will be posting them on our web site as they become available.

Happy Thanksgiving 2020

Thank you to everyone who baked a pie for the needy.
We received over 40 pies that were served to less-fortunate families and 200 homeless people. It was very heartwarming.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

Serve the City Geneva needs you

Dear Volunteers,  WE NEED YOU !

In this COVID time, we know how difficult it is to stay safe and keep in touch with the current safety directions.

But also there are many in the community that are suffering from the economic effects of the “pandemic”

This Friday afternoon and Saturday in many stores across Geneva will be having a food drive to collect food for those in need.  Serve the City has selected 5 stores to support this collection program and could really use your help.

This year we want everyone to pay special attention to physical distancing. So we can put our bags out to be picked up by shoppers.. and shoppers can just put their donations in the receiving bins (we will sort out things later)

.. so basically the job is “Please” and “Thank-you” and take breaks as necessary.

Do sign up for one of our stores this weekend on www.ServeTheCityGeneva.ch  and stay safe.

Many Many Thanks.. from STC and the Community.

and PS.. thanks to all those who are making pies for the homeless.. !

Please join us in celebrating Thanksgiving by giving back to our neighbors that are suffering during these difficult COVID times. It would help us to signup on our website so we try to anticipate our Pie count..

Many thanks..and stay safe.. www.ServeTheCityGeneva.ch
