Serve The City Geneva

Serve the City Geneva – October Newsletter

Hello to all our Serve the City volunteers.

We hope you have been taking advantage of the beautiful fall weather. We have been very fortunate…but, as you know, there are always people in Geneva who are less fortunate and in need of our help.

One of our biggest events of the fall will be the Samedi du Partage which will take place November 24th and 25th. The Partage Foundation collects and distributes food to people of need in Geneva.

We need volunteers to collect food items outside several supermarkets in and around the Canton of Geneva. Samedi du Partage is always a successful event, thanks to our selfless volunteers. Sign up as group and help our community while spending time with friends.

Once all the food items have been collected, they will be delivered to Partage warehouse in Plans-les-Ouates for sorting. Serve the City will be asking for volunteers to help with this process. Dates will be announced on our website and social media once the food has been collected. The sorting takes place over the course of a few weeks at the warehouse from 8:30 am to 11:45 am. Please check back more information!

OTHER WAYS to Serve the City:

Bioparc Genève

Calling all animal lovers!

We need your help. On October 28th  from 9h to 13h, Bioparc needs volunteers to prepare the animal enclosure for the winter season. More information will be sent once you have registered.

For those of you who don’t know of Bioparc (formerly Parc Challandes), it is an
animal sanctuary in Bellvue, Genève. Bioparc “is the only place in the canton where you can closely observe more than 250 animals of around 85 different species, European and exotic, and participate in taking action for their preservation. The Geneva Bioparc works for biodiversity through 4 key missions: conservation, research, environmental awareness and education and animal therapy.”

Jardin de Montbrilliant

This Soup Kitchen located behind Gare Cornavin serves almost 300 meals per day to people in need. The Soup Kitchen is open from Tuesday to Saturday. Serve the City Volunteers help prepare and serve the meals and are generally working from 8h30 to 13h.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army offers four projects for volunteers, including serving meals to Ukrainian refugees and homeless women at the Bel Experience hotel. They also have various opportunities in other locations. Get in touch with us to learn more.

We are always seeking more ways in which we can help our community. Please check back regularly to see what’s new! Come and join us at Serve the City and remember….
